Introducing the Future of Filament TD Testing:

The TD-1 by AJAX-3D

EDIT: Beta access for Self-Source is now Live on my Patreon! AJAX-3D | 3D Models | Patreon

We are thrilled to announce this innovative measurement device, The TD-1 by AJAX-3D! This revolutionary device is designed to streamline the process of gathering critical filament data by capturing the TD value and a color hex code directly from your filament, making it easier than ever to add new materials directly to your HueForge filament library.

Key Features:

  • Capture TD: Quickly measure the Transmission Distance of your filament.
  • Capture Hex Color Code: Obtain the color hex code of your filament.
  • Quick Capture Mode: Quickly add new filaments directly to your library.
  • Continuous Capture Mode: Monitor the real-time TD data of your filament, whether it’s actively in use or during the spooling process directly on the production line.
  • Seamless Integration: Connect directly with HueForge software to effortlessly add new filaments to your library.
  • 0.91″ OLED Display: View test results even when not connected to HueForge for manual entry later or for uses outside of HueForge.
  • USB-C Interface: Convenient USB-C interface with included cable (PCB kit and assembled versions).

Why Choose The TD-1:

The TD-1 is designed with simplicity and practicality in mind. Say goodbye to the hassle of printing step tests, as this device allows you to gather “close enough” data by simply inserting a strand of filament. The choice of continuous capture mode keeps you in control, monitoring TD values in real-time as the filament flows, ensuring you always have the data you need.

TD-1 Pricing Structure (Pre-sale Only – Shipping Not Included):

  • $10: Get access to the Bill of Materials (BOM), STL files, and device firmware for self-sourcing.
  • $40: Opt for the self-assembly TD-1 PCB kit. This kit includes STL files and two custom-designed PCBs for a wire-free assembly.
  • $80: Choose The TD-1 completed and assembled version for ultimate convenience.

Official Launch Date:

To be Determined. Targeting first quarter of 2024.

  1. Hey Ajax, interested in being a beta tester if possible. I’m an old school software QA guy so you’ll get some quality feedback from me. Let me know! Cheers.

  2. Hello from Germany,

  4. I would be up for option 1 & 2 myself. I am sure most will want the easy button( time and skill dependent) Great work here. I have tried the scope, and step test and have been looking at the led box setup.

  5. Would love to get my hands on this as a kit. Hueforge was the tipping point for me to get a 3D printer. I have a few project ideas that Hueforge would be perfect for.

  6. Kit option to make custom enclosure for me. I went way overboard “prainting” with this new process using the AMS, MMU2S, and Palette 3 Pro. The TD meter will be a perfect fit. Can’t wait to get it.

  7. That is fantastic. I’ve been printing some “stained glass” type prints that it would be nice to have something other than trial and error for color and light transmission.

I would definitely do option 2 and possibly option 1.

  9. I’m TD-1 completed and assembled version. Also if you need any testers I’m available. I’m retired so I have all the time in the world.

  11. Emailed and very interested and ready to buy. It’s any of the software able to be modified? In addition to hex, can any other values be returned? Rgb, cmyk, hsl, and so on? More and any of the meta data? Raw values? Frequency?

    Thanks!

  12. Just out of curiosity, will you offer a price discount for members of your Patreon? I’d love to dig in and look around at it beforehand.

I will most likely get the self-assembly kit since I love soldering and assembling, but sourcing parts usually isn’t much fun.

    Thanks!

  13. Hey, just saw Joel’s video, headed here.
Did the intergration with hueforge importing direct pan out?

did enough interest express itself to get to the point of shipping boxed units with a usb hole in one end, a 1.75mm in the other, an some instructions?

    Thanks for saving us time

    1. Option 2 or 3 is intresting..

When it will be avaiable to Germany?

Perhaps a german / european redistribution will be helpful ?!
